This role supports the Head of Section in managing engineering activities related to the design, development, coordination, implementation, execution, and control of Projects, ensuring alignment with the Company’s strategy, commitments, and goals.
The position focuses on providing technical guidance, problem-solving, decision-making, and analysis of the engineering department portfolio using innovative and analytical techniques.
The role-holder is responsible for promoting, adhering to, and ensuring compliance with COMPANY’s Occupational Health & Safety, Environment, Energy, and Quality systems and standards.
What are you going to do
Electrical Engineering Scope
Oversee the design, specification, and implementation of high voltage electrical systems including:
Substations
Switchgear
Transformers
Emergency power systems
Review and validate single-line diagrams, load lists, cable schedules, and protection coordination studies.
Ensure compliance with IEC standards, COMPANY specifications, and EPCC Contract requirements.
Technical Specification & Documentation Review
Review technical specifications submitted by EPCC Contractor during tendering and subcontract award phases to ensure alignment with approved project-specific requirements.
Evaluate and comment on technical documentation including datasheets, drawings, calculations, and vendor documents.
Review and approve engineering specifications and procedures, ensuring compliance with the EPCC Contract and Project procedures.
Engineering Development Participation
Actively participate in multidisciplinary engineering development activities, including:
HAZOP
HAZID
SIL assessments
QRA
3D Model Reviews
Constructability and Operability Reviews
Ensure closure of action items from these sessions and integration into the design.
Subcontractor Engagement & Fabrication Oversight
Participate in kick-off meetings with subcontractors to align on technical scope, quality expectations, and schedule.
Review and approve fabrication schedules submitted by subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project milestones.
Coordinate inspections and expediting activities with QA/QC teams at subcontractor facilities.
Monitor fabrication progress and follow up on delays or deviations.
Support EPCC Contractor in resolving NCRs and fabrication defects.
Site Installation & Mechanical Completion Support
Collaborate with the construction team to ensure proper installation of high voltage equipment and systems.
Participate in site inspections to verify compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.
Support mechanical completion activities including punch list generation, classification (A/B/C), and closure.
Ensure readiness of systems for pre-commissioning and commissioning.
Design & Technical Coordination
Ensure engineering, installation, and delivery of all tie-ins are developed for proper implementation on both Company and EPCC Contractor sides.
Follow up with EPCC Contractor on interpretation and implementation of technical contract content.
Manage design changes, field technical notes, and engineering queries, ensuring traceability and compliance.
Review Inspection Data Sheets (IDS) and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), ensuring Company’s involvement in inspection activities.
Reporting & Documentation
Assist Engineering Manager and Assistant Managers in preparing inputs for monthly reports, Steering Committee presentations, and other reporting matters.
Ensure timely resolution and closure of engineering-related NCRs with traceable documentation.
Support the Contract Manager in evaluating technical aspects of NCRs and variation order requests.
Participate in project audits, technical reviews, and lessons learned sessions.
Project Schedule & Commissioning Support
Ensure engineering deliverables align with a commissioning-driven schedule.
Monitor progress and deviations from EPCC Contract timelines.
Coordinate training and technical support for Company teams to ensure readiness for commissioning, start-up, and installation.
Risk Management
Ensure EPCC Contractor’s Environmental Impact Assessment and Risk Management activities comply with EPCC Contract and PIM requirements.
Contribute to the Project Risk Register and support mitigation planning for engineering-related risks.
Follow up on assigned risks until mitigation actions are completed and risk levels are reduced.
Interface & Stakeholder Management
Manage internal and external engineering interfaces, including coordination with Operations, Maintenance, Projects, and external authorities.
Support the Interface Team in technical review of spare parts, tie-in readiness, and interface closure.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure engineering activities meet quality and safety standards across all project phases.
Monitor EPCC Contractor and Subcontractor compliance with technical specifications and report deviations.
Ensure Company-supplied scope and tie-ins are completed and ready for installation per project schedule and quality standards.
Essential skills and knowledge
Bachelor’s Degree (12+4 years)
Professional Certification
Minimum 10years relevant work experience, with at least 5 years in in major projects.
