Introduction

Brunel is seeking an Operations Manager to work with one of our clients in the oil and gas industry for a permanent contract, with no duration, located in Georgetown, Guyana. This position is open to expat applications.

What are you going to do

  • Lead implementation of in-country business development and approved strategic growth initiatives;
  • Support the General Manager as a point of contact with key client personnel to ensure thorough understanding of client requirements and continuous relationship improvement.
  • Regularly obtain client feedback through daily interactions and business development initiatives;
  • Be accountable for the attraction, retention and extension of key contracts;
  • Prepare and/or support the preparation of tenders, contracts, customer reports and presentations;
  • Support and, where required, lead development of additional service lines as required;
  • Ensure the General Manager is informed on all initiatives and developing issues, whether positive or negative.
  • Ensure plans are developed across the offshore and onshore industrial divisions to ensure superior, consistent service to all clients;
  • Support the General Manager in providing leadership, mentoring and coaching to all staff;
  • Actively participate in and support the in-country staffing and development process;
  • Effectively support and effect staffing plans, including the utilization, training and development of all people resources;
  • Provide input into all decision making affecting operations of the business;
  • Establish and maintain effective channel of communication and provide support to all divisions of business as required;
  • Plan, direct, coordinate and evaluate operational and commercial activities;
  • Ensure profitable growth and overall success of business;
  • Report progress on all initiatives to the General Manager;
  • Identify operational and commercial risks of the business and ensure implementation of appropriate processes to manage;
  • Manage commercial and operation functions and employees;
  • Develop, and justify operating budgets for the service delivery.
  • Be a highly visible and engaged leader in the development and fostering of a culture of safety, continuous improvement and operational and commercial excellence.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Past history of managing in an Oil and Gas service company
  • Experience working with some or all of the following disciplines:

  • A formal engineering qualification, electrical or mechanical is preferable.
  • Experience and familiarity with business and customer services activities.
  • Pricing and quoting knowledge.
