Introduction

Brunel is seeking a Mechanical Layout Designer to support a high-performing project delivery team in Vancouver. The successful candidate will play a key role in the preparation of mechanical layouts for mineral processing facilities, contributing to both study-level and execution-phase projects. This position offers the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary EPCM environment delivering technically challenging projects.

What are you going to do 

  • Prepare mechanical layouts, including study-level and execution-level drawings aligned with project requirements.
  • Develop 2D mechanical layouts using AutoCAD; experience in 3D layout is considered an asset.
  • Produce layout-related deliverables such as design criteria, design drawings, and technical reports.
  • Ensure all drawings and designs comply with project-specific requirements, industry codes, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain consistent design drafting standards across projects and clearly communicate expectations to team members.
  • Provide design input and estimating support during proposal development.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary coordination during layout or model development to ensure integration and accuracy.
  • Comply with Brunel's Quality Assurance and Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Advanced diploma or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • 2-6 years of experience in mechanical design drafting.
  • Prior experience in mechanical design and layout of mineral processing facilities within a large EPC/EPCM environment.
  • Proficient in 2D drafting with working knowledge of 3D modeling tools.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, design codes, and drafting standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
