Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Rosenort, Manitoba.

Full-time, permanent, five days per week on-site.

What are you going to do

Responsibilities

  • Supervisory responsibilities:
    • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
    • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
    • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
    • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Process Optimization & Lifecycle: Manages the M-BOM, New Product Release (NPR) process, and Engineering Change Requests/Notices (ECR/ECN).
  • Automation & Robotics: Leads the design, controls programming, and implementation of robotics and custom machinery to enhance plant production flow.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborates with Product Management and leadership to set priorities and ensure the feasibility of manufacturing new designs.
  • Operational Efficiency: Manages time and labour routing, SOP creation, and Pre-Fab production programming to reduce costs and improve throughput.
  • Capital Projects (CAPEX): Develops machinery specifications for CAPEX spend; coordinates plant renovations, expansions, and oversees outside contractors/vendors.
  • Quality & R&D: Oversees the Quality group and works with product designers and R&D to ensure prototypes meet production standards before full-scale release.
  • Safety & Maintenance: Ensures all machinery and operations comply with local regulations; assists with service scheduling and maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Management, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience in a manufacturing engineering and manufacturing field, required.
  • At least five years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Eng license or an E.I.T., (must have requirement).
  • Tooling experience is a great asset. I.e., creating the physical machinery, molds, and equipment required to mass-produce goods.
  • Thorough understanding of plant engineering, industrial engineering, and tooling.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to prepare budgets and records.
  • Thorough understanding of Continuous Improvement methodologies and applications
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
